Description
Welcome at The Red Lion, a small four star hotel located right in the historical centre of the town, in the vicinity of Prague Castle, overlooking the Royal Route. An ancient burgher house in the historical centre of Prague, located on the Royal Route, only five minute walk from the main entrance to Prague Castle. The first written records of the house date back to the 15th century. The well preserved cellar rooms, presently housing a restaurant, are from the Gothic period. The Renaissance can be appreciated in the original painted beam ceilings of both the public premises and the guest rooms, whilst the entrance portal reminds us of the baroque reconstruction of the house. The facade is of great interest also due to its relation to Peter Brandl, a famous 17th century altar painter who was born and lived in the house. All further adaptations implied new architectural elements, with an outstanding importance of classicism.
